Happy Monday Tribies!
Can you believe it's July? We're in the back half of the year!
I have 198 Tribies left to get to Prima this year.
I've seen so many of you continuing on your journey to goal weight or in maintenance, making progress, bit by bit, step by step.
And I've seen a few of you feeling like you're failing. Thinking that you're not making progress or not doing it right.
And I've seen many of you going back and forth between the two of them.
I want to share with you the truth, that you haven't failed, you never fail...hear me out.
The thought "I've failed" means you had an expectation as to how it should 'go'. How you 'should' lose weight. How long it 'should' take.
I had this same expectation. One of mine was that once I "figured it out and got to goal weight I should never be tempted by food if I truly HAD figured it out".
When I get curious with this thought I see the underlying belief that "weight loss is to be figured out" and "solved".
Then there's the thought I see many of you have "I lost weight before and had figured it out, why can't I just do that?" and "I know what do to why aren't I doing it!".
The answers to these are your mindset. The way you think. It's the difference between a high weight cycle and a low weight cycle.
When we are in a low weight cycle we have a certain mindset, a way of thinking, we feel certain feelings that drive us to do the actions that get us losing weight.
Thoughts and beliefs like:
"I really want this"
"I'm creating my future self"
"I'm worth the effort"
"I'm enough and worthy right now AND I want to improve my health and lose weight"
"I know what to do, I'll stick with the basics"
"whoops, I went off track, I'll go back to basics and get back on track"
"I'm becoming someone who..."
"That's interesting..."
When we're in a high weight cycle (gaining weight) we also have a certain mindset and way of feeling and being that results in us gaining weight.
Thoughts and beliefs like:
"why can't I figured this out"
"I've wasted so much time and money on this"
"I'm so disgusting and everyone is judging me for being overweight"
"when I weigh x I'll feel..."
"I don't know how to lose weight"
"I just need to find the motivation"
"I need to try another plan/diet/recipe/journal"
I'm highlighting this because I want to stress that there's no 'figured it out' and 'found the answer'.
There's just a way of thinking.
AND, you can be in a low weight cycle feeling amazing one week, and move into a high weight cycle feeling like a failure the next week.
And what I see when that happens is that you start to blame yourself, the program, your actions, your husband, the temptation at work, events, the season, holidays...
But the answer is the only thing that has changed is your mind. What you're thinking and believing.
You haven't failed, you haven't lost it all and you're not a lost cause.
The solution isn't to try and ignore a high weight cycle and run away from it. The solution is to really get to know both cycles and what can help you flip across to your low weight cycle (not actions but thoughts in stepping stones).
This is the work we're going to be doing for the rest of this month.
Getting to know our high weight cycle and low weight cycle. Accepting them and acknowledging that we're not broken when we're in a high weight cycle. There's nothing wrong with us when we are, we're just having thoughts that are keeping us there.
So set the intention to show up this July, get to know your low weight cycle and high weight cycle, and set yourself up for Prima and Maintenance.

On our recent Prima Group Coaching Call there was a Prima who was in a High Weight Cycle 2 weeks prior, thinking she had completely failed and should leave the group. she mustered up the courage to come to her last ever Prima call that week and felt like there was no hope for her but she was there in one last attempt hoping to 'catch' some inspiration.
She got coached on that Prima call (most prima's get coached on every prima call they attend).
She got coached on "couldn't be bothered" and eating through grief.
And then this past week she showed up to the Prima call in a Low Weight Cycle, feeling amazing and back on track.
The main thing Prima's do when they feel like they're failing or they're way off track is 'go back to basics'.
They learn to shame and blame themselves a lot less and just get back on track. Back to what they know works for them.
