This week we're kicking off 31 Days of Practice.
From 1st March to 31st March you will practise living life the way you want to live it.
This doesn't mean depriving yourself of certain foods and drinks. It doesn't mean knuckling down, gritting and grinding your way to your 31st March Goal.
It also doesn’t mean eating all the things you want because when you’re honest with yourself, that’s really not what you want.
It means using the 6 Step Process, using the tools of the Fast Mama Program, practising living life intentionally.
It means imperfect progress, compassion and consistency while working towards a life of freedom from food.
The 6 Step Process:
1 - Decide and know what you want
2 - Set a plan
3 - Train your brain
4 - Allow your feelings
5 - Show up to your plan
6 - Evaluate and Celebrate
In the 31 Days of Practice I want you to aim for progress not perfection.
Imperfect progress.
What is progress?
- Anything that's 'better than old average'.
Thoughts, feelings and/or actions that are an improvement on your old average (before your last start).
- Any awareness of thoughts/feelings/actions that aren't serving you.
- Any practice of thought/feeling/action that are how you want to live your life.
Examples:
- On the weekend I had 3 alcoholic drinks when I usually/used to have 8 or more.
- I set a plan today, actually put pen to paper and set a plan. I've resisted that in the past.
- I caught myself being so mean to myself, telling myself I'm a failure and will never get to my goal weight. I stopped the negative talk and decided to practice "I'm here today ready for change".
- I ate to a +4 at dinner when I usually eat to a +8.
- I left 1 mouthful of food on my plate.
- I paused during my meal and checked in with my body. I realised I was only at a +2 so I kept eating.
- I felt so angry today and was looking for chocolate, I realised I was feeling angry, sat with it and breathed. The anger passed and I got back to the work I was doing.
- I only had chocolate 3 times this week when in the past I've had it almost every day.
- I had a kombucha when everyone else had beer.
- I went for a walk even though I didn't want to.
- I usually don't swim when the family go to the waterpark but today I got out there and participated. I went on all the rides and have decided to live the life I want NOW.
Ok, I could go on and on. I have SO many examples of progress.
And I want you to collect SO many examples too. Collect the evidence that proves you're making progress. Capture it in your daily check ins or your planner.

We just HAVE to celebrate Katy this week, absolutely crushing her old limiting beliefs. I wonder what belief she'll crush next!
"So apparently the belief that I could “only run 5k” was way way out-of-date. I ran 15k today (head explode ) over 2 runs. I wanted to see my friend for coffee but I wanted to fit a run in too. So I decided to run to hers … 7k+. I wasn’t sure if I’d run back or get the bus. I had coffee and lovely chat and thought I’d top the 7k up to 10k and then jump on the bus from the main road. But by then I was at the beach so I thought I’d just run right along the coast home … walking the last but if I got too tired. Yup the last 1k was brutal “1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8” counting my steps over and over … but.I.fecking.did.it! Felt a bit sick so quickly are a hard boiled egg left over from yesterday and the wee “pillow chocolates” I brought home from holiday. Think tomorrow may be a rest day! "
